SEO Tip 4 - How Strong is Page 1 for you Keyword?

So you have decided that your keyword is birmingham photographer?

Now you need to know how strong the websites are that are already on page 1 and is it worth competing with them?

The best way to do this is to use a tool called SEO Quake.

SEO Quake is a free tool that is accessible by using the Mozilla web browser software called Firefox.  So firstly you need to intall Firefox on your PC and then install SEO Quake.  If you go to Google and do a search for how to do both of these things and then carry on with this tip.

So now you have Firefox and SEO Quake installed :-)

Using Firefox go to Google and do a search "birmingham photographer".

You will get the top 10 results listed and at the top of the page you will see a button that belongs to SEO Quake titled "Request Parameters".  Click this button and SEO Quake will go and fetch all of the vital statistics for the top 10 websites.  It will return The pagerank of each website, how many inbound links each site has, how old each website is and how many pages are in the Google index for each site.

The point it it is these vital statistics that tell you how strong the top 10 websites are for "birmingham photographer".

For example if you see every website on page 1 has a PageRank of 5, has 10,000 inbound links, are all 10 years old, and each has 200+ pages.... compared to your new website which has a page rank of 0, only has 5 inbound links, is only 6 months old and has only has 15 pages!

It is this type of comparison that Google uses to decide who should be on page 1!  Especially the number of inbound links with the term "birmingham photographer" in the link text of the inbound links!
